Continuing down the new Redline pack series from our friends over at 3V Gear, we have the 3VG Sovereign next up. It’s their largest pack yet. The 3VG Sovereign is a chute style pack with some great features. Nobody beats 3VG pricing either. They deal direct and cut out the middle man and pass those savings down to their customers. There’s a lot to love with this pack, and I think it’s a solid buy for the money. However, there are a few things I wanted to note.

As I mention in the video, this is a great buy for people more on the civilian side of the outdoorsy lifestyle. If you’re a hardcore bushcrafter or military type, I’m not sure you would like it much. It leans into the ultra-light pack spectrum, which can be good so long as it has a more robust frame system, but the 3VG Sovereign only has a typical standard internal frame. I wouldn’t even personally consider it a frame. It ads a little rigidness to the back, which does indeed help; I just don’t think it’s adequate for such a heavy loadout.

However, If you don’t plan to go too heavy, and if you plan to hike trails with little abrasion, the 3VG Sovereign might just be a perfect option for you. Let’s dive in to the specs and photos below.

In the video, you will notice some white threads showing through on the seams. Due to this I would be worried about potential blowouts, especially fully packed in rugged terrain. I was loaded out pretty heavy, so I’m going to cut the pack a little slack. I like to push the limits, but I think this is definitely something to consider if you are hiking heavy or in rougher areas.

There were a couple of other small things I didn’t care for but they were really just personal preference things. There are a lot of great things to love about the 3VG Sovereign though. Such as the built-in rain cover, color pallet, laser-cut, and traditional molle, contrasting lighter interior with a kick-ass topo pattern, felt-lined top pocket, YKK zips, and more.
