Today we kick off our “know your knot” series with the Taut Line Hitch. A great knot with awesome function. Knowing your knots is a crucial survival skill. Heck, knowing knots in general can save you in many situations. From fishing, to pulling your vehicle out of a ditch, to stringing up hammock. Knots are just plain good to know, but they’re also plain easy to forget lol.
So whether you know a knot or, not. It’s important to continuously practice them consistently. Just like many skills, this is a perishable one for sure.
The Taut Line Hitch is a great knot to know when it comes to adding tension to a line. In this series we will focus on teaching you how to do the knot, as well as show you practical applications of them so you can know what situations they are best/most utilized for.
In this video I demonstrate a perfect example of use of this knot by using it to stretch my tarp out with adjustable tension. The Taut Line Hitch allows you to move the knot feely, but at the same time allows it to be tight where you want it.
